1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Expense Insights ("the App"), a personal finance, expense tracking, and budget management mobile application for Android developed and published by Karmakar Developers ("we", "our", or "us").

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Expense Insights, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not install or use the App.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum legal age required to consent to digital services in your jurisdiction) to use the App.
• If you make in-app purchases via Google Play Billing or link a Google Account for cloud backup, you must be authorized to use the linked Google Account and payment method.

3. License to Use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Karmakar Developers grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use Expense Insights on Android devices that you own or control, strictly for your personal, non-commercial financial tracking and budgeting purposes.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the App (except to the extent such restrictions are expressly prohibited by applicable law).
• Bypass, tamper with, or circumvent any security, encryption, entitlement verification, or referral validation mechanisms within the App.
• Rent, lease, sublicense, sell, or redistribute the App to any third party.

4. No Financial, Tax, Investment, or Legal Advice

Expense Insights is a personal record-keeping, visualization, and budgeting tool only.

• Informational Purposes Only: All charts, analytics, spending summaries, heat maps, budget alerts, account balances, and responses generated by the in-app assistant ("Maya") are based solely on the data you manually enter or import into the App.
• Not Professional Advice: Nothing in Expense Insights constitutes professional financial planning, accounting, tax preparation, legal, or investment advice.
• User Verification: You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of your financial entries, calculations, exported reports (CSV/PDF), and budget limits before making any financial decisions. Karmakar Developers is not a financial institution, certified public accountant, or registered financial advisor.

5. Offline-First Storage, User Data & Backups

1. Local On-Device Storage:
   • By default, all financial records you enter—including transactions, income, expenses, transfers, accounts, categories, budgets, recurring rules, and receipt images—are stored locally on your Android device inside the App's private database.
   • Karmakar Developers does not store or have access to your local transaction database on its servers.
2. Your Responsibility for Data Loss:
   • Because your financial records are stored locally on your device, uninstalling the App, clearing App storage via Android Settings, resetting your phone, or losing/damaging your device will permanently erase your local financial data unless you have previously backed it up using Google Drive Sync or exported a CSV backup file via Settings > Export Data.
   • You are solely responsible for maintaining regular backups of your data.
3. Optional Google Drive Sync (Pro Feature):
   • When you link your Google Account and enable Google Drive Sync (manual or automatic), the App uploads and restores your transaction backup file (expense_insights_backup.csv) directly to and from your own personal Google Drive account using the narrow drive.file permission scope.
   • Note that receipt attachment photos are stored locally on your device and are not included in CSV cloud backups.
   • Google Drive availability, storage quotas, and account access are governed by Google LLC's Terms of Service.

6. Expense Insights Pro & In-App Purchases

Expense Insights offers core expense tracking features for free (with no third-party advertisements) and offers an optional Expense Insights Pro upgrade (such as unlockable Google Drive Sync and Pro features).

1. Google Play Billing & Live Pricing:
   • All paid purchases of Expense Insights Pro (com.karmakar.expense.pro.lifetime) are processed exclusively through Google Play Billing.
   • The purchase price displayed in the App is fetched dynamically from Google Play in your local currency and region. Applicable taxes, if any, are calculated by Google Play at checkout.
2. One-Time / Lifetime Pro Access & Account Binding:
   • You must be signed in with a valid Google Account inside the App to purchase or restore Expense Insights Pro.
   • Your Pro purchase entitlement is linked to the Google Account email address signed into the App at the time of purchase (customerEmail) and the Google Play Order ID (GPA.xxxx).
   • To restore your Pro access on a new or reset device, sign in to the App using the same Google Account used at the time of purchase and tap Restore.
3. Pending Payments:
   • If your payment method requires delayed confirmation (for example, UPI approval, net banking, or slow payment verification), Google Play may mark the transaction as Pending.
   • Pro features will unlock only after Google Play confirms that the payment status has transitioned from Pending to Purchased. You can check the updated status at any time using the Check Pending Payment button on the Expense Insights Pro screen.
4. Refunds & Entitlement Revocation:
   • All billing inquiries, payment disputes, and refund requests are subject to the Google Play Refund Policies.
   • If a purchase is refunded, canceled, charged back, or revoked through Google Play, your Expense Insights Pro entitlement and associated Pro features (such as automatic Google Drive Sync) will be deactivated.

7. Referral Program ("Refer & Unlock Premium") & Promotional Access

Expense Insights may offer a referral reward program allowing signed-in users to share a unique referral code with friends to earn time-limited or promotional Expense Insights Pro access:

• Valid Referrals Only: Referral credits are awarded only when a genuine new user signs in with a valid Google Account and redeems a valid referral code in accordance with the in-app program rules.
• Time-Limited Entitlements: Promotional or referral-based Pro access is valid until the expiration timestamp (expiredAt) associated with the reward. Once the reward period expires, Pro access automatically transitions to inactive unless extended or upgraded via a Lifetime Pro purchase.
• Anti-Abuse & Fraud Prevention: Creating fake, duplicate, automated, or self-referred accounts to manipulate referral counts is strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to revoke referral rewards or suspend cloud entitlement access if fraudulent or abusive activity is detected.

8. Voice Assistant ("Maya"), Imports, Exports & Widgets

• Voice Assistant ("Maya"): Voice commands and natural-language queries are designed to assist with quick transaction drafting and spending lookups. Always review drafted transaction details (amount, category, account, and date) before confirming or saving.
• CSV Import & PDF/CSV Export: When importing CSV files via Settings > Import Data, you are responsible for ensuring the file follows the supported format and does not contain corrupted or duplicate records.
• Home Screen Widgets: Home screen widgets display summary information directly on your device's home screen. Anyone with physical access to your unlocked device screen may view information displayed on active widgets.

9. App Lock & Device Security

Expense Insights includes an optional App Lock feature utilizing your device's native Biometric / PIN authentication (BiometricPrompt).

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, device passcode, and linked Google Account.
• Note that Android's system-level security relies on your device not being rooted or running modified firmware.

10. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to Expense Insights—including its user interface design, application code, graphics, icons, custom illustrations, logos, trademarks, and documentation—are and remain the exclusive property of Karmakar Developers. You retain full ownership of the personal financial data and content you enter into the App.

11. App Updates & Service Availability

• In-App Updates: The App may check for updates via the Google Play In-App Updates API and prompt you to download and install newer versions to improve stability, security, and features.
• Modifications: We reserve the right to add, modify, or discontinue specific features, cloud services, or promotional programs at any time without liability. Core local expense tracking remains accessible on your device.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, EXPENSE INSIGHTS IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

KARMAKAR DEVELOPERS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT:

1. THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE;
2. ANY CALCULATIONS, CHARTS, VOICE PARSING, OR DATA IMPORTS/EXPORTS WILL BE FREE OF ERRORS; OR
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES (INCLUDING GOOGLE DRIVE, GOOGLE PLAY BILLING, OR FIREBASE) WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL KARMAKAR DEVELOPERS OR ITS DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, FINANCIAL LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN ALL CASES, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID TO US (VIA GOOGLE PLAY) FOR EXPENSE INSIGHTS PRO IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR INR ₹50 (OR EQUIVALENT LOCAL CURRENCY), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

14. Termination & Account Deletion

• By You: You may stop using the App at any time by resetting your local data (Settings > Danger > Reset App & Restart Setup), deleting your Google Drive backup (Settings > Google Drive Sync > Delete Data from Google Drive), and uninstalling the App. You may also request deletion of your cloud account/entitlement records by emailing developers.karmakar@gmail.com.
• By Us: We may suspend or terminate access to cloud-based features (such as entitlement/referral verification) if you materially breach these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity.

15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India, subject to any mandatory consumer protection laws applicable in your country of residence.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect new features, regulatory requirements, or changes to Google Play policies. When we update these Terms, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Expense Insights after the revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
